we had to combine some kind of sport and a city to create an advertising poster tor the event.

Album Cover Design

we were required to design an album cover, I chose John Cage from the music album list that was given to us.

I started with making 5 or more designs:

For my final design I worked with the third one. I kept it simple by using John Cage's drawing and removed the black box from the initial design.

Food Truck Design

For this project we had to design a food truck, Menu, and a t-shirt.. we did not do any experiments with the design. Just picked one that we like and kept working on it.

This project for another class. we were required to design a the front of a book cover. I chose Romeo and Juliet by william shakespeare.

Book Making

the final project for the semester is book making. for this project we were required to write an essay about a designer -Maximum 400 words- from the list that we had I chose Philippe Stars.
after writing the essay we had to design the book pages, and constructing the book.

Reflection of “On Photography”

Susan said “ to collect photographs is to collect the world.” I do agree with her about the statement; because before photography people could not see the world unless they travel and physically go and look at some kind of place, drawing, and an object. On the other hand these days photographs and with the help of social media photographs of every place in the world can be seen in one webpage and in a few seconds. On my Face Book page I have friends from all over the world and each one of them posts photographs of different activities they have, and I can see and know what they are doing through those photographs.

She also talked about different usage of photography; for example it could be evidence, it can be converted to a movie, and also it could be a collectible object

Reflection of “Photography Changes Everything”

Photography resists being shaped by any single set imperatives that makes it hard to define. Asking different people about photography will give us different interpretation and tricks of showing something in that specific area; so photographers with different background will give different information based on their knowledge.
The writer opinion about photography is that it makes people greedy and want more photos every minuet, I don’t really agree with him on this idea because sharing a photograph is sharing a moment in my life with other people, and there is nothing greedy about it. People share these precious moments every minuets and with the social networking it became so much easier and faster.
One pint that he made and I agree with him is that photography changes people’s life and the way they see different things. For example ideal body type is different from one country to another based on what the media present to the public people. 

Written reflection to video Ways of Seeing, Episode 1: Psychological Aspects

I watched this video last semester for a writing project. What is really interesting is the way I saw it last semester is totally different than the way I see it now. I kind of analyzed the information in the video based on the project that I have and worked with it in a way where it is benefit for me.
For my English paper last semester this video helped me to look at a group of images and find something common between them. On the other hand for this photo project this video was helpful to see that the meaning of a picture is differ from one person to another (or in our project different collages/ photo composition will have a different meaning)

Written reflection to video Masters of Illusion

This video is talking about the illusion of seeing and how movies are made using basic visual technique that was developed long time ago. It was really interesting to watch this video because I was able to look at photography in a different way. It is much harder to make a series of snap shots and make a movie out if it (in our case making a collage), than taking a single snap shoot of a moment.

Summary of The Project

I learned a lot from this project since this is my first time using the wood shop and actually constructing something out of wood. How to use the equipment that is available in the wood shop and the amount of time that the glue needs to set before starting to work on the block, all of the little details that I won’t be able to know unless I do the work myself.
Because my box was a simple rectangle with a cut out in the middle of the lied, it should be pretty easy to work on it but I had such a hard time cutting strait lines and constructing a perfect rectangular box. That is why I had to start over and finish constructing the box during two days only.
My first attempt was not successful because I had thin and non-strait cut walls. (I could not find the wood for my fist try in the common shop after I through it in the curt, I was going to add a picture of it in here but I could not).
To have a better constructed box I started with new wood block and a slightly different measurement, I remeasured everything to make sure that I have thicker walls. The biggest challenge is to cut strait line using the band-saw; I did my best using it I did not get perfect cuts but it was defiantly better than the first attempt.
If I had more time to work on it I would make sure to have clean strait lines throughout the entire box.

Third idea

My third and final idea is to use some kind of translucent material that brought from my country “Saudi Arabia”

Another idea that I really liked is using the wood burn tool.. I think it made a really good looking texture and visual effects to the wood
